Sync and working offline
Main → the sync indicator in the toolbar
StoDo Online keeps a full copy of your database on the phone. Everything you do is saved to that copy first and then synced to the cloud — which is why the app is fast, and why losing signal in the stockroom doesn’t stop the work.
Working offline
Section titled “Working offline”Keep going as usual: receive goods, register sales, edit items. Changes queue up on the device. When the connection is gone, an offline indicator appears on the main screen — tapping it explains the one real limitation: “No internet connection — data may be outdated”. Your own work is safe; it’s your teammates’ latest changes that can’t reach you until you’re back online.
Reading the sync indicator
Section titled “Reading the sync indicator”While queued changes upload, the main screen’s toolbar shows a sync icon with a counter — the number of changes still to send. Tap it for the status in words: “Sync in progress …” while working, “Synced OK!” when everything is through. If something failed, the indicator turns into an error badge and tapping it opens the sync error log.
A few actions — like database maintenance — refuse to run mid-sync: “Synchronization is still in progress. Please wait for it to finish and try again.” That’s protection, not a problem: let the counter reach zero and retry.
Several devices, several people
Section titled “Several devices, several people”Sync is two-way and automatic: what your teammates save appears on your device without any refresh, and your changes appear on theirs. Each device holds its own full copy, so everyone keeps working even when someone’s signal drops.
When a device looks out of date
Section titled “When a device looks out of date”- Check the two indicators first — offline? still syncing?
- Give the queue a moment: a device that was long offline may have plenty to send and receive.
- Still wrong? Open Settings → Databases and use Reload database from server — it re-downloads the whole database from the cloud.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Keep the whole team on a current app version. If a teammate’s newer app writes data yours can’t read, sync pauses and the app says so: “Data was received from a newer version of the app. Synchronization is paused. Please update the app… to continue syncing.”
- A fresh device’s first sign-in downloads everything. A recent cloud backup speeds that up — in the app’s own words, it “allows faster syncing when you add a new device or a new user”.
- Planning to sign out or switch databases? Let the sync counter reach zero first — the app stops the sync engine before either action.
