Migrate from Simple to Online
StoDo Online → Settings → Databases
StoDo Simple keeps everything on one phone; StoDo Online keeps it in the cloud, syncs it across devices, and lets you invite your team. When the business outgrows one pocket, your Simple data moves over — the Online app imports a Simple backup directly. As the app puts it: “You can also import data from backup stored locally on a device. This is especially useful if you wish to transfer data from the ‘StoDo Simple’ (our offline application)”.
-
In StoDo Simple, make the backup pair — Settings → Backup and Restore: Backup database, and Backup images if you keep photos. The backup guide has the details.
-
Install StoDo Online and sign in — your account starts with an empty database of its own. If you’re switching phones at the same time, get the backup files onto the new device first.
-
Open Settings → Databases, choose your database, and tap Restore from local backup. Pick the database file; the app then asks — “Do you have a backup of images and wish to restore them?” — point it at the images .zip.
-
Let it upload. Your goods, operations, and contractors become cloud data, ready to sync to any device you sign in on. Check the catalog and a few recent operations, then set up the app’s preferences (like My Company) — settings live outside backups and don’t migrate.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Simple stays installed and untouched — keep it around until you’re happy with Online, then retire it.
- StoDo Simple and StoDo Online are separate apps with separate subscriptions: moving your data doesn’t move a Premium purchase.
- The import brings data, not accounts: once in Online you can invite users and control what they see — that’s Online’s own toolset.
- The import replaces, not merges — the app warns in red: “Current database will be deleted. Do you want to restore database from backup?” Migrate into a fresh database, not one you’ve started filling.
